An evening at Westminster Abbey

Classical history was combined with contemporary sophistication for a Laurent Perrier champagne tasting dinner created by Alexander & Björck at Westminster Abbey.

On arrival guests were welcomed into the Cloisters, where champagne cocktails and canapés were served at an illuminated bar.

Dinner was set in the Abbey's Cellarium, where in the 14th Century monks stored food and drink. A brushed gold table top was given a contemporary twist with deep pink table linen offset by black furniture, with a complementary mix of black, silver and gold tableware. Luxurious floral decorations reflected the pink of the linen.

The fine dining began with finest ahi tuna, coconut lime and corn. This first dish, served on Royal Crown Derby plates, was complemented by Laurent Perrier Brut.

The second course consisted of lobster, lychee sorbet and vanilla lime finger, paired with Laurent Perrier Ultra Brut. For main course, Laurent Perrier Rosé accompanied veal, pumpkin cream and cherry jus.

Dessert was a Caraibe chocolate, blackberry, and dulce cream served on Point Gold Plates, served with a chilled Laurent Perrier Demi Sec. The dining ended with espresso martinis and rhubarb cigars.

Live music throughout the event began as guests arrived, with a performance by saxophonist Anna Kirby. As each course was brought in guests were entertained with a short performance by the female vocal / operatic group Skye.
