The V&A is known as the world's leading museum of art and design, and as of 2019 is also licensed for civil ceremonies. To showcase its potential as a wedding venue, the museum brought together a team of specialist event partners to create an evening of sensory delight and romance.
With a guestlist of nearly 100 high profile event planners and influencers, 'Timeless Romantics' combined delicious food, beautiful table settings, exquisite floristry and lighting, spirited entertainment and impeccable hospitality.
The Raphael Gallery was transformed with banqueting tables set below a stunning floral canopy.
Blue Strawberry designed and created the event menus, which offered a taste of their Spring / Summer 2019 menu collection.
The Wedding Breakfast experience included:
(left) Lightly cured Scottish salmon, orange ponzu mayonnaise, toasted nuts and seeds served on the Square Black plate from the Jones Hire Oriental range;
(right) Roast peaches, gorgonzola, basil and peach purée, almonds and bread served in the Angled Coupe bowl from the Jones Hire Canapés China range.
Scallop and seabass ceviche, shellfish dressing, pickled seaweed and avocado served in the Brilliance Bowl and Bark Canapé Bowl from the Jones Hire Canapés Glass range, with Mother of Pearl Canapé Forks from the Jones Hire Canapés / Pastry cutlery range.
Champagne, wine and cocktails were served in glasses from our Rafael glassware collection.
Miniature desserts included: 64% Valrhona 'Ferrero Rocher', amarena cherry and almond ganache; Calamansi lime baked Alaska; Champagne and Mara de Bois strawberry jelly with gold flakes; Lemon yoghurt and sherbet 'Dip Dab'; 'The Peach' – white peach mousse, lychee cream, roasted almond ice cream, lemon thyme and lemon balm leaves; and Bitter chocolate espresso with milk mousse.

Within two months of the event the V&A received bookings for two wedding ceremonies and receptions for Summer 2019, as well as more than twenty enquiries.
